Margrit Kennedy

Margrit Kennedy was head of the Research Department Ecology and Energy in the framework of the International Building Exhibition of Berlin. As early as 1982, she recognized in this context a flaw in our monetary system by discovering a major obstacle with regard to implementing economic measures to the necessary extent. This was the beginning of a now 30 year long search for alternatives to the current monetary system. Her book Interest and Inflation Free Money has been translated into 22 languages. Her book Regional Currencies: a New Path to Sustainable Prosperity (co-written by Bernard Lietaer) serves as the theoretical foundation for over 70 initiatives in Germany — of which 30 have already issued a regional currency — and has been published in French and Spanish. In lectures and seminars, she conveys how the monetary system, as a focal point of our economic problems, can become an instrument that serves us rather than masters us.
